1930 Reiner's Bakery is built.
German emigrant, Gottlieb "George" Reiner, built his dream bakery at 541 South Third Street. For 44 years, the Reiner family doughnuts and cakes were a neighborhood favorite until 1974.
1974 Thurn's Bakery opens its doors.
The Plank family purchased the bakery and renamed it Thurn's Bakery. For the next 30 years, Thurn's became a German Village institution. All were saddened when Thurn's closed its doors in 2004.
2004 Pistachio opens.
Siblings Spencer Budros and Anne Fletcher opened their bakery in the Short North Arts District of Columbus Ohio.
2007 Pistachio moves to German Village and is renamed Pistacia Vera.
After three successful years in the Short North Arts district of Columbus, Pistachio moved its business. Located in Historic German Village, they renamed their business Pistacia Vera. After a complete restoration of the building and pastry kitchen, Pistacia Vera is proud to call the bakery landmark home. The renovation and design of Pistacia Vera gained international recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). It was honored with an AIA merit award in 2008.
